Preparing for you Newborn Photos
The ideal age for newborn photography a session is between 5-14 days. When babies are this new they spend a lot of time sleeping, even more so in the morning hours. During this time most babies will still curl into the squishiest of poses. Around two weeks old most babies go through a growth spurt. They begin to stay awake for longer time periods and start to stretch their little arms and legs out, making it less likely to get the adorable squishy poses.
I suggest booking your newborn session 2-3 months in advance to ensure you have a spot when your baby arrives. If your baby is due in the fall or holiday season I suggest booking even sooner. Due to some babies coming early and some coming late, I only book between 6-10 newborns per month. I hold time before and after so the parents are guaranteed a space no matter when their baby arrives. If you are late at scheduling and have already had your baby that’s okay! I occasionally have last minute openings due to babies coming early and late. I have also photographed newborn sessions up to 6 weeks old. It’s never to late to capture your sweet baby.
If you have scheduled your newborn session in advance all you need to do is let me know within 24-48 hours of baby’s arrival. The newborn session will be scheduled within the first 14 days of birth. I offer newborn sessions Monday – Friday in the mornings because that is when babies are the sleepiest. Don’t worry about what to bring I have all the outfits and props your baby will need for their first photo session. (all you need is Milk and Paci) When it comes time for your newborn session you will receive tips on how to prepare baby for the session.
My Process for Newborn Sessions
When booking your session, I Like to schedule a short phone call answer any questions you might have and to gather information to customize your babies session. During this call I will go over color options, themes, posing preferences, likes and dislikes. After this call I hand select each prop from my collection. I have beautiful hand made newborn props from all over the world. I choose only the best for my smallest clients… Vintage lace, beautiful silks, organic wools and cottons. We will customize your babies session to be just as unique as s/he is.
I provide all the props for the session! All you need to bring is your sweet baby.
On the day of your session, you will come to my studio and watch me photograph your little miracle. I have everything you'll need here and will have sent you prep instructions to prepare for baby's session. Your baby is never out of eye sight from you. Please take this time to relax, kick back and enjoy the provided wi-fi, or take a siesta! If I need you, I you won't be far. Your little miracle is in great hands. So relax-and recharge!
It generally takes me about one to two weeks to soft edit each session. I will contact you once your gallery is ready to schedule a time for your family to come view your gallery. At this time, I will help you hand select you artwork and the collection that best fits your needs.
Newborn photography investment
1I offer three different newborn session options. Session retainer is due at booking to hold one of the monthly openings. Retainer is not applied toward package. My most popular session is the Full newborn session which includes parents and siblings. The full newborn session generally last about 3 hours. Option two is a Mini newborn which does is an hour and half of newborn photos only? once your babies session is complete we will go through each pose and pick out your favorites. Please allow 2-3 weeks to fully edit each of the images you have chosen.
Petite Wrapped Newborn Session (Baby Only) - 1 hour session
Perfect for parents on a budget not wanting to sacrifice quality in their newborn portraits. Baby is fully wrapped or partially wrapped the entire session. Choose your color scheme.

Mini newborn photography ( Baby Only)- 2 hour session
Perfect for parents who want the full newborn experience without being in the the rest of the family. Choose your color scheme, props, outfits and posing preferences. I will custom design your session after we discuss colors and posing you love.

Full newborn photography (includes mom, dad and siblings) - 3 hour session
Perfect for parents with older children who they want to include into the photos. Choose your color scheme, props, outfits and posing preferences. I will custom design your session after we discuss colors and posing you love.

Each session package is customized but each family generally invest between $500-$1500 on their newborn session.
